About the Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef

  • 1 small sweet onion, diced

  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced

  • 5 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

  • 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes

  • 2 3/4 cups water

  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar

  • 12 oz uncooked spaghetti noodles

  • 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley

Preparation

  1. Add the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper to a large dutch oven and cook over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain the grease.

  2. Add the garlic to the pan and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly.

  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, undrained canned tomatoes, and water. Add the Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  4. Once boiling, break the spaghetti noodles in half and add to the pot. Stir to submerge the noodles in the liquid. You don't have to break the noodles in half, you may add them whole, just be sure they are covered in the liquid so that they'll cook evenly.

  5. Return to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cover.

  6. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes or until noodles are cooked through.

  7. Sprinkle the parmesan cheese and parsley over the top and stir to combine.

  8. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
