Happy National Pet Day

I have three very important little men in my life, and when I say little, I mean of the four-legged persuasion. Yes, I'm a dog mom to three very different personalities. I've had dogs all my life; in fact, I couldn't imagine my life without one. Dogs are such companion animals with amazing benefits. Did you know it's a proven fact that dogs can be good for your health? Pets come in all different shapes and sizes, and research has shown that having a pet can reduce stress and anxiety and improve one's overall well-being. I know these guys improve my quality of life every day!

Jinx
This guy right here is my OG. At thirteen years old, he's been with me the longest. Don't let his age fool you though, he's still pretty active for a senior, especially when it comes to food and treats. Sure he gets grumpy, and he's always been a little aloof, almost like a cat. He likes attention and cuddles on his terms, which is a little unusual for a Shih Tzu, but then he is a special guy.

Noodle
Noodle is my sweet mixed-breed rescue pup. He was rescued from a really bad "backyard breeding" and hoarding situation. At just ten weeks old, he'd already been through a lot, that coupled with being rescued during the 2020 Covid lockdown made him a very timid and anxious little guy. He's improved over the years, but he's still very shy, and it takes him a little bit to get to know someone. And man is he vocal. About everything!

Brody
Brody, the baby, my little velcro dog. Not quite a year old, this Doxie is the class clown. He came to me when I needed him most; I just didn't know it at the time, and he completes our little family in the best way. He's so clever and 100% hilarious. He annoys the old man, Jinx, worships his big brother Noodle, and is such an absolute joy to be around every minute of every day. I mean, just look at that face! There's such a big personality in that little long body, you can't help but immediately fall in love with him.

The joy that my dogs bring is multifaceted, encompassing emotional support, physical activity, social connections, and so much more. The "men" in my life keep me grounded, well-rounded, and overall a much happier human being than I might be without them. Stick with me long enough, and you'll get to know them even better. What pet(s) do you have in your life that brings you love and happiness? Drop me a comment and a pic of your furred, feathered, scaled, or shelled (did I cover them all?) family member, and Happy National Pet Day!
